I hope that all of our families will enjoy the long holiday weekend. This is a great opportunity for family time and taking a break from our usual routines if only for an extra day! High School families are reminded that PSAT testing will take place this Wednesday during the first three periods of the day. Students should bring a number 2 pencil to school as well as their calculator. This will not affect the Middle School Division schedule.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Ethan Miller, grade 11, on the loss of his mother, Mrs. Darlene Miller. Please keep Ethan and his family in your prayers.
Have a safe and happy Columbus Day Weekend!
Sincerely,
Kathleen St. Laurent

Guidance News
Important Senior Notes
If you are applying early action/decision you need to be attentive to financial aid forms. The CSS profile is ordinarily due Dec 1 if you apply early action. You can fill this out at www.collegeboard.com. Many private schools require you to complete this. Our financial aid night is December 3rd at 6:30pm in the Theater. The speaker will go over the process of completing the FASA and better understanding award letters. EA/ED candidate shouldn't wait to fill out the CSS Profile. The FAFSA cannot be completed until January 1st.
You must regularly monitor you Naviance accounts making sure it properly reflects where you applying as well as the status of each application. Remember to invite all recommenders from Naviance.
If you have not started your applications it is likely a good idea that you not rush to do early action. You want to make sure everyone has sufficient time to complete all items well! Never hesitate to come to Guidance with any questions.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
NAVIANCE will be rolled out to grades 9, 10 and 11, starting with juniors, late November.
Any junior or senior girl interested in Engineering might want to consider attending the "women in engineering" program being held at Northeastern October 31st. You must provide your own transportation.
Physics tutoring is available during certain studies and after school days for a fee using a former CC teacher. Please contact Ms. Haynes if you have any questions

From the Health Office
While reviewing health records, I have noted that a number of students do not have documentation of the immunizations required by Massachusetts law. I have sent letters home with those students last week, and again this week. Without proof of immunization status, students may be excluded from school. We do not want to have to exclude any student, so if you have received a letter from me, you can simply forward the most recent copy of your child’s immunization record (or ask your child’s doctor to fax it) to the health office.
I have purchased some health alert labels that can be placed on the back of the student and faculty ID badges for rapid identification of pertinent medical information in case of an emergency. These labels are available in the health office to anyone who wants one. It is NOT mandatory for anyone to obtain a label for their badge; however, in the event of a medical emergency, the labels may be very useful. They are 7/8 inch x 1 inch in size and are blank for writing in relevant medical information (such as allergies, significant medical conditions, etc.)
All medications (including Epi Pens, inhalers, and over the counter medications) require a physician order and must be registered in the health office. Please send in your orders and medications as soon as possible.
Thank you and have a safe, enjoyable long weekend!

News from Middle School Division
A reminder - please place one of your family name tags on the passenger side of your window so monitors can call your child to your car. This will help to make pick up easier for all, especially during inclement weather. Thank you for your cooperation.
Thank you and God bless.

Helpful Hints for Middle School Families
Did You Know!
Research shows that most tweens would like to talk more with their families about schoolwork. Ask your child to share what he or she is learning in classes. Be specific: “What kind of math problems did you do today?” or “Tell me about the science experiment you did in lab today.”
